3rd Edition of the Programme “Composer-in-residence”Dec 1, 2012
We are pleased to inform that the 3rd. Edition of the IMIT Music Department’s Programme "Composer-in-residence" has been launched.
The Programme is aimed at composers who are 40 years old or younger and professional orchestra and choir ensembles in Poland. It refers to a common practice in the world of linking artists with professional music institutions and consists in commissioning and premiering a work and presenting other pieces of the selected artist during the artistic season of the applicant institution.
The programme “Composer-in-residence” aims to promote contemporary Polish composers who have an opportunity to become known and invade the listeners’ consciousness by presenting systematically their own works. Following the programme the contemporary music's share in the repertoire of Polish concert institutions will increase and the financial support offered by IMIT allows to reduce cost of presenting the newest music.
The 1st and 2 nd. Editions of the Programme “Composer-in residence” resulted in seven residences: of the Lodz Philharmonic (Andrzej Kwieciński), Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra (Maciej Zieliński), Radom Chamber Orchestra (Przemysław Zych), Chamber Orchestra of the Polish Radio “AMADEUS” (Barbara Kaszuba), The Witold Lutosławski Płock Symphony Orchestra (Zuzanna Niedzielak), Oskar Kolberg Philharmonic in Kielce (Bartosz Kowalski) and Torun Symphony Orchestra (Jędrzej Rochecki).
The 3rd. Edition of the Programme refers to the season 2013/2014. The deadline for submissions is 31 January 2013, and the selection deadline for the projects to be carried out is 28 February 2013. The readiness to take part in the programme is declared jointly by the composer and the orchestra/choir ensemble.
