Aldona Bartnik – artist-in-residence of the Early Music Academy Foundation in the 2017/2018 season

A concert on 9 September opens Aldona Bartnik’s residence, organised as part of the ‘Artist-in-Residence’ programme, with Fundacja Akademia Muzyki Dawnej (Early Music Academy Foundation) in Szczecin.

The current artistic season will see the artist-in-residence perform a series of concerts and recitals with such ensembles as Szczecin Vocal Project, Consortium Sedinum and Orkiestra Famd.pl affiliated with the Early Music Academy Foundation.

‘Scherzi Musicali’, the concert held on 9 September at the Pałacyk pod Lwami in Gryfino as part of the eighth edition of the Letni Festiwal Wędrowny Na Gotyckim Szlaku (Summer Wandering Festival on the Gothic Trail) will feature Aldona Bartnik alongside the vocal ensemble Szczecin Vocal Project directed by Paweł Osuchowski. The artists will perform compositions by Barbara Strozzi, Claudio Monteverdi, Girolamo Frescobaldi and Francesca Caccini, as well as Polish love songs written by anonymous seventeenth-century composers.

The programmes of the following concerts of the residence (3 February 2018 – National Museum in Szczecin, 24 March 2018 – Church of the Holy Family, 13 May 2018 – National Museum in Szczecin) will include cantatas by André Campra, Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Ernst Galliard, arias by Jan Dismas Zelenka and Stabat Mater by Luigi Boccherini.

Aldona Bartnik can also be heard in the latest repertoire. On 3 February, she will perform Miłosz Bembinow’s Pytania do ogrodu for soprano and piano with words by Sławomir Tomasik, written for the ‘Composing Commissions’ programme.

In June 2016, Aldona Bartnik has finished Master Study at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, specializing in the Early Music and working with Rita Dams, Peter Kooij, Michael Chance, Pascal Bertin and Jill Feldman as her vocal teachers. Before the Master Degree, she has obtained two Bachelors in The Karol Lipiński Music Academy in Wrocław – one in Violin, later on in Classical Singing.

Most of her artistic activities concern the Early Music repertoire. Starting from late Renaissance a’capella music, finishing on the early Romantic songs with accompaniment of fortepiano and the other period instruments. Cantata, oratorio, Baroque and Classical opera, songs’ recitals are frequently genres in her agenda.

2016 year, Aldona has finished with a concert tour in the Netherlands and United States of America. Artist  was  singing the solo part – I soprano in B minor Mass by J.S. Bach under Ton Koopman, as an effect of cooperation of  students from The Juilliard School in New York and The Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Performance received enthusiastic reviews both from The Boston Early Music Festival and The Lincoln Center in New York.  The  production brought also a professional DVD material, broadcasted two times on Dutch public TV – NPO cultura.

Artist sung both as a soloist and ensemble singer on the most prestigious stages and Baroque music festivals around the world: Lincoln Center New York, Wigmore Hall in London ( Vox  Luminis ), Royal Albert Hall London ( Gabrieli Consort ), Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Tivolivredenburg Utrecht, Warsaw Philharmonic, Boston Early Music Festival, Fringe at Utrecht Early Music Festival, Fringe at MAFestival in Bruges, International Young Artist’s Presentation in Antwerp.

For an artistic season 2017/2018 soprano was granted a scholarship from the Polish Institute of Music and Dance following the program for young artists Artistic Residency. The grant provides her four solo recitals dedicated to Baroque repertoire fully chosen by herself.

A huge role of Aldona vocal work plays an ensemble and choral singing. Since 2008 year, she has been cooperating with a numerous choirs and vocal ensembles including the Vox Luminis, Collegium Vocale Gent, De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Netherlands Radio Choir,  Gabrieli Consort&Players,  Capella Cracoviensis, Choir of National Forum of Music in Wroclaw and Wrocław Baroque Ensemble, working with Giovanni Antonini, Fabio Bonizzoni, Philippe Herreweghe, Konrad Junghanel, Ton Koopman, Paul McCreesh, Andrew Parrott and Jos van Veldhoven.

Her academic research during the study concerned Polish  music. For that reason she is full heart in subject and regularly promote Polish music, including concerts’ organization around the Europe. With The Wrocław Baroque Ensemble, she has made five CD recordings devoted to Polish Baroque. In 2013,  2015 and 2017 three of them devoted to G. G. Gorczycki and B. Pękiel music were nominated to the prestigious Polish music award Fryderyk. The newest album with compositions by  M. Mielczewski  is freshly released, being distributed by The Universal Music Polska and Naxos, as a worldwide distributor. She also took part in artistic activities of The Ars Cantus – Wrocław chamber ensemble specialized in the Early Music, under the guidance of Tomasz Dobrzański, with whom she has recorded the Kodeks Wrocławski album dedicated to Renaissance vocal music. This CD in 2016 was also nominated to music award Fryderyk.

Promotion of Polish culture brought her a nomination to the  Polonus 2016 ( culture category ) – annual award  granted by Polish community in The Netherlands.

The other artistic activities concerns also a wide promotion of Polish art song, singing recitals with two Dutch pianists – Clara Biermasz and  Maurice Lammerts van Bueren, with whom she prepared program Melancholia dedicated to songs  by K. Szymanowski, F. Chopin, W. Lutosławski, I.J. Paderewski.

In a forthcoming months artist records three albums: Melancholia with Polish songs repertoire released by Dutch label Zefir Records, and two albums released by CD accord label – La Decollazione di S. Giovanni Battista by A.M. Bononcini – as Salome and Polish Baroque music with The Wrocław Baroque Ensemble. Aldona was also selected to semi-final round of two vocal competitions – Concours Corneille in France and Canticum Gaudium in Poland. In her agenda are also performances with Collegium Vocale Gent, De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, La Risonanza under Fabio Bonizzoni, Vox Luminis, Foundation Academy of Early Music from Stettin, Dutch Baroque, Wrocław Baroque Orchestra and Netherlands Radio Choir.
