Substantiation of the verdict:

The pieces qualified for the Polish Dance Platform 2017 include performances of great thematic, formal, and expressive diversity. The Committee has acknowledged the works by artists creating original choreographic idioms. The selected pieces also represent the major and characteristic dance tendencies in the past two years, which have influenced the developments in Polish dance. Significantly, the majority of the selected works are collective projects, thus marking a visible turn in the artistic research among both young and mature dance artists.

The Polish Dance Platform aims to seek out and promote the most interesting original dance productions made in Poland or by Polish choreographers abroad. The idea of the event first came to fruition in 2003 at the "taniec.pl" showcase held in Warsaw as part of the Body/Mind International Contemporary Dance Festival. The idea was revisited five years later. To date, Poznań’s Zamek Culture Centre and the Art Stations Foundation have overseen three editions of the showcase: in 2008, 2010 and 2012. In 2013 the two institutions entered into an agreement with the Institute of Music and Dance in Warsaw, making it the main organiser of the event. The previous edition of the Polish Dance Platform took place in 2014 in Lublin and was co-organised by the Centre for Culture in Lublin.
