Wieniawski for smartphones

Oct 10, 2016

The 15th edition of the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition—for the first time in its history—enables audiences to follow the event live via a special mobile application “Wieniawski”.

The application allows users to access every stage of the auditions and the final concert. Users may watch them in Full HD on smartphones (iOS and Android), through smart TV and through internet browsers. The application also includes a regularly updated schedule of performances and a compendium of facts and figures concerning the jury, the participants, the accompanying pianists and orchestras, as well as the Competition awards. The application helps trace the impressive history of the Competition, whose first edition was organized in 1935, and its laureates to date.
The application is available in Polish and English. It can be downloaded worldwide free of charge. “Wieniawski” was prepared by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, which granted the engine developed for the application accompanying last year’s International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. The content of “Wieniawski” was contributed by the Henryk Wieniawski Society. The live audition broadcasts are publicized in collaboration with the Polish Radio, TVP Kultura and the National Audiovisual Institute.
The Competition is co-organized by the Institute of Music and Dance.
